Key components and advantages of the EmailLabs technology platform  include:

Infrastructure

To ensure the safety of our clients' data, EmailLabs' systems are located in secure data centers that provide redundant Internet connectivity, backup power, and excellent physical security.  Protected by secure redundant firewalls, our load-balanced email servers, Web servers, and database servers provide always-available service.  Access to all services, except for Web traffic and email, is blocked to provide system security.  The highest level data integrity is ensured through redundant databases leveraging real-time replication.  Data is stored on an enterprise-storage area network that maximizes performance and availability.

Online Interface

Our online interface provides simple Web-based control panel account management that is accessible from any Web browser and is secured by individual account name and password. Web-based access to our interface allows the configuration and scheduling of messages wherever there is an Internet connection and a Web browser.

API Layer

The Application Programming Interface (API) layer enables seamless data integration, transfers, and list updates in real time between the EmailLabs system and other applications and databases, eliminating the need for manual imports and exports.  For example, the API allows you to connect customer relationship management systems such as Salesforce.com to EmailLabs, enabling the two applications to talk to each other and transfer information such as list updates, email activity and status in real time.

EmailLabs Database (Main Data Repository)

The Main Data Repository at EmailLabs is a series of replicated enterprise databases. Each individual database is synchronized in real time with the others to remove single points of failure and protect customer data. This architecture allows queries for email creation, reporting, and interactive access to be serviced across multiple servers for consistent performance. The redundant database servers provide uninterrupted service in the event of a server failure.

Message Scheduler and Monitoring System

The Message Scheduler continually checks for new messages queued by EmailLabs clients. When it detects that a new message has been scheduled, the Scheduler queries the database for the necessary member records and demographic data. The Scheduler then passes that information onto the Personalization Engine. The Scheduler system has a built-in efficiency algorithm to ensure that messages do not sit in queue for an extended period of time. The Message Scheduler also acts as a monitoring system for scheduled messages. Once delivery begins, the scheduler checks for end-user pause requests and monitors the delivery rate of each message.

Personalization Engine

After the Message Scheduler recognizes that the message is ready for delivery, it is passed through a Personalization Engine. The Personalization Engine pre-processes the message to prepare it for tracking and personalization. To enable tracking at the user level, the Personalization Engine accesses each link in the message and creates a personalized tracking URL for each user. The Personalization Engine also performs all mail merge functions and dynamic content handling, ensuring that messages contain their assigned demographics and content for the recipients.

Mail Servers

EmailLabs has a series of mail-server farms that deploy email messages and process incoming reply and bounce requirements. This clustered fleet of highly-optimized mail servers delivers all of our customers' messages.

Web Servers

EmailLabs' Web servers track end-customer data, ensuring that all information is reported and delivered to clients in a timely fashion. When a customer opens an email or clicks on a URL, the data is processed through our Web servers in order to facilitate the tracking process.

Tracking System and Profiling Engine

In conjunction with the Web servers, this engine receives all actions (such as email opens, click-throughs, and profile updates) and processes the requests. These actions are then logged and processed by the Event Log Handler.

Event Log Handler

The Event Log Handler takes data from the tracking and profiling system and processes it for insertion into the main data repository. The event handling layer processes and logs each action to ensure accurate tracking.

CRM Integration via secure tunnel

CRM integration can be achieved in a number of ways depending on the requirements of EmailLabs customers and the CRM application they use. In all cases, however, EmailLabs provides all data-backup to the CRM system and ensures data security via PGP encryption.  EmailLabs is integrated with Salesforce.com, so clients can leverage this relationship to send messages, and see responses and automatically-updated lead status from the EmailLabs tab in their Salesforce.com interface.
